In celebration of Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday, April 26, independent bookstores have been sharing their plans, including special events, speakers, and bookshop crawls. - 11:30 am Storytime and Book signing — featuring local children’s author, CaTameron Bobino for kids ages 5+ Reading from her series of stories centered around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
- 12:30 pm Student Puppeteer Showcase — Meet 9-year-old puppeteer extraordinaire Eleanor Lee Dussud performing 6 selected puppets. Will be in conversation with Jerry T.
- 1:30 pm Meet the spectacular storytellers from Stagebridge, the bay area’s legendary senior storytelling troupe. Performing stories that are filled with magic, history and inspiration.
- 2:30 pm Meet three local writers and graphic artists in conversation. Featuring Rasauhn Ali Tatum, Grey Starr, and LaMarr Thomas. Discussing their current works and shared artistic practices.
- 3:30 pm Meet Cathleen and James Myers and selected performers of The Period Events & Entertainments Re-Creation Society, Inc. (PEERS), a Nonprofit Corporation dedicated to remembering, researching, and re-creating the performing arts of the past. Based in Alameda, their monthly historical costume ballroom dance classes are legendary! Please join us as they present an hour of enchanting Circa 1900 in store performance, ala My Fair Lady!
- 4:30 pm Meet Hans and Pedro, owners of Dahaom 1516 joining us to discuss everything about having fun and sharing the joy of brewing beer with a uniquely Bavarian flare!
- 5:00 pm — We are honored to welcome Alameda Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft who will visit to help commemorate our 21st year serving the Alameda community!

We will be the host store for the Fresno Bookstore Day passport. Our store will have raffle prizes from local businesses and a grand prize drawing for bookstore passport completion with gift cards from all participating stores and exclusive Fresno themed prizes.
We are hosting the first ever Fresno Bookstore Day passport.
Six local bookstores are participating including: Petunia's Place, Hart's Haven , Friends of the Fresno Library Store, A Book Barn Clovis, and Judging by the Cover: A Bookstore. Each store will offer a unique bookstore day experience from live music to poetry readings to exclusive bookish gifts and more!

Danu's Wardrobe
We are creating The Beltane Betrayal: A Murder Mystery Dinner Adventure, originally written by Coleen D. Caraway, Founder of Danu's Wardrobe. We will be curating a menu, encourage dressing up as your favorite forest fantasy creature, and providing prizes including the Golden Ticket search for our guests. We had limited seating so it is a ticketed event.

Old Firehouse Books
We'll have tea from out neighbor, Happy Lucky's as well as local Mary's Mountain cookies and other snacks! Customers coming in the store can also “fish” for a variety of prizes like a store thermos, 40% discount or chocolate, but the may just get stuck with a dirty sock or rotten banana if they aren't careful!
We're part of the amazing Colorado bookstore crawl organized this year by Pages & Petals! Customers can get their passport stamped by visiting any of the stores and turn their entries in at the end of the month for a chance at a grand prize. We'll also have a store prize drawing for any passports turned in to our store.

Ersula's History Shop
We have started a playlist for people to show appreciation to authors for including their stories in their books. They are to hold up the book and open with "I'm in this book." Then, they say, "Thank you, [author's name], for including my story on page [###]." They will then be asked to share it on their social media. The most savvy may be asked to share live from the store.
The Gilded Page
We’re hosting the 1st annual Tarpon Springs Book Festival in partnership with our city; we're hosting 6 trad published authors in our booth, and have invited many indie authors, artists and vendors to come join the day-long street fair. Will have author panels and kids’ activities.

In the Morning starting at 11:00 am Eight Cousins Kids will be hosting a Frog and Toad Story Time then we will offer a Frog and Toad Craft and face painting. Both will be available until 2:00 pm. At Eight Cousins Books, four doors down the street, we will be hosting a literature trivia from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Participants are invited to visit all eight participating Albuquerque independent bookstores over ten days to complete the challenge. Independent Bookstore Day is on Saturday, April 26, and the challenge must be completed by Monday, May 5. Participants can pick up an ABQ Indie Bookstore Day Passport at the first store they visit, and collect a stamp from each participating store to earn their prize. Woolly Bear Books & Gifts first opened in October 2024. Now, less than half a year later, we are set to open in a NEW space on April 26…Indie Bookstore Day! The new storefront is about three times the size of our current shop and allows for more in-store programming opportunities, including author talks and kids’ storytimes.
Our business’ success is definitely a testament to this committed, tight-knit community and its dedication to the arts. We don't have any special programming planned for opening weekend aside from a ribbon cutting ceremony on the 26th.

We are participating in two bookstore crawls: Twin Cities Independent Bookstore Passport and Western Wisconsin Bookstore Crawl. We will have Indie Bookstore Day merch for sale and will be offering discounts to book crawl customers.
Other Worlds Books & More
We will be having two authors in the hall. Liam Larkin will be here with his newest release as well as other books. Judy DuCharme will be featuring her Green Bay Packers books since the is the last day of the NFL draft. There will be a gift with purchase, color and activity pages for the kids, and a few other surprises for those who stop in all weekend long.

Join us Saturday, April 26 for a day full of books, community, and celebration. We’re marking our official grand opening with ribbon cutting, giveaways, special bookish merch, and live energy from the UW Marching Band and DJ EK Entertainment at the finish line of the Next Chapter 5K.
