Between the Covers

This small, independent bookstore is going on 41 years as a presence in Harbor Springs, a resort town in Northern Michigan whose year-round population of about 1,250 grows by over six times in the late spring and summer months. Katie Boeckl took ownership of the store in March of 2013, transitioning from a seasonally-focused “hobby” business, to a viable and sustainable entity in the town and surrounding areas. A change in ownership has seen growth across various sections of inventory: contemporary literature, poetry, literary criticism, religion & Eastern philosophy, foreign literature, music, pop culture, crafts & DIY, graphic novels & comics, Michigan writers, and local book club picks. Between the Covers is the official bookstore for the Harbor Springs Festival of the Book.
